JEWELRY EDUCATION > GLOSSARY > Cufflinks
Cufflinks are also jewelry items used instead of buttons, but they are usually larger than studs and come in pairs, one to secure each cuff on a formal shirt. Although cufflinks are most often associated with tuxedos, they offer an increasingly popular way for men to express their personal style and status on a daily basis, when worn with a regular business suit. The only requirement is that the wearer must have "French cuffed" sleeves—a shirt style that is specifically made to accommodate cufflinks. Again, styles vary considerably. They can be as serious as diamonds or as whimsical as subway tokens.
