As the name implies, Tahitian pearls are produced in and around Tahiti and the French Polynesian islands. These pearls are produced by the black-lipped oyster and frequently result in larger than average pearls. Naturally dark, these pearls differ from others in that they typically feature deep shades of silver, charcoal, black, and green. These rich hues are amongst the most celebrated in the world, with the truly black pearls being amongst the rarest and most sought after.
