Tourmaline is a group of closely related gem materials composed of a variety of gemstones. The group ranges every color of the spectrum from red to violet and it can even be bi-colored or black. Gemstone quality tourmaline is chiefly found in Brazil and Africa, but it can also be found in frequently in other locales such as Afghanistan and California. In recent years, tourmalines have enjoyed resurgence in popularity due to vivid colors that have recently been discovered in the mines of Brazil.
